William Phipps, whose stage, movie and TV career spanned over a half-century, has left behind $125,000 to the HayesTough Foundation. William starred in many 1950’s sci-fi films and most notably, was the voice of Prince Charming in Disney’s “Cinderella”. William passed away on June 1, 2018 in Santa Monica, California at the age of 96.

The HayesTough Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to sup- porting and providing hope for children battling childhood cancer and their families. Every year nearly 100,000 kids die from Childhood Cancer, which is almost 300 kids per day. Despite these numbers, childhood cancer research is vastly underfunded and cancer is now the leading cause of death in children. The HayesTough Foundation is dedicated to providing grants to families suffering hardship due to their child’s cancer diagnosis.

“Receiving this grant means more than I can say,” said Savanna Tate, President of the HayesTough Foundation. “Every two minutes another child is diagnosed with cancer and thanks to the generosity of William, we will be able to continue to support the thou- sands of families in the heart of this fight. We are so incredibly grateful for William’s support through this donation. We will honor his amazing legacy through our support of the childhood cancer community.”

Prior to his long career in acting, William enlisted in the Navy. During World War II, William was a radioman aboard six ships between 1942 and 1945.

When he returned from his discharge, William went to Hollywood and enrolled in the- atre company acting school. In 1947, Bill began his official acting career when he was cast in the Oscar nominated movie, “Crossfire”.

William was best known for his roles in many 1950’s sci-fi films and was considered one of the genres pioneers.
